Grade News: 1st - We took our bean seeds home. We wrote stories and made pictures about the planting and growing of the seeds. We drew animal pictures while we listened to a story about reptiles. In Spelling we are working on the sounds - oo, ir, ar, and ow. Several children have been absent with the chicken pox.

Sectional Baseball Tournament Collins downed previously unbeaten State Center 6-5 in eight innings. Nichol drove in the winning run with a double in the 8th inning. Gary Borts opened Collins scoring with theft of home in the first inning. Collins scored three runs in the first inning, two in the sixth, and one in the eighth for six runs on eight hits and two fielding errors. Semifinals - Collins won the Sectional Tourney Championship by defeating Baxter 5-2. Denny Sullivan pitched another excellent game. Innings - 7; hits - 6; runs - 2; strikeouts - 13; walks - (?). Jerry Dodd, Gary Borts, Danny Long, Jim Nichol, and Galen Smith hit safely for Collins. Collins will enter District play with a 4-3 record on May 7 at Slater against East Des Moines.
