Music News - Musical entertainment has been scheduled for Feb. 23rd for the Legion Auxiliary. It will include the girls sextet, vocal solo, and tenor saxophone solo. On Feb. 4th at Colo, the dance band, clarinet trio and three instrumental soloists will furnish entertainment for the Dalton Aid community.

February 5, 1959 Music News - The junior band will begin new band music. A spring promotion concert is planned for those students graduating into the senior band, and for those advancing into the junior band. The pep band will play for the last three home basketball games. Friday evening the girls baton class will demonstrate their skill with individual routines. Grades three through eight will take the "Seashore Music Test." The test will show the advance they made during the first semester of musical training.
Candidates for the Annual F. F. A. Queen's Ball were elected by the Collins chapter last week. The high school classes will be represented by freshman Linda Atwood; sophomore Pat Kimberley; junior Rita Branscomb; and senior Mary Ann Kearns. Results of the voting will be announced at the Queens' Ball on Saturday evening Feb. 14. Voting is one cent per vote for the queen candidate of your choice. The dance will be held 8:00 to 11:00 in the lunchroom. Admission will be .50 per couple or .35 per individual.
February 12, 1959 Basketball - The Collins girls lost to Rhodes 37-29. Collins led 19-17 at halftime and 29-28 at the end of the third quarter. The girls were unable to score during the fourth quarter with the game outcome of 37-29. The boys bested Rhodes in a game that went to the last second when a Rhodes player missed a lay-up that would have tied the game. Half-time Rhodes led 17-15. Collins gained a ten-point lead during the third quarter, only to loose it in the fourth, winning by a two-point margin.
