Senior Trip - Friday about 5:30 a.m. Collins seniors were joined by Maxwell seniors and chaperons for departing to Des Moines to catch the Rocket (passenger train) to Chicago. We enjoyed the train ride as it was the first for several of our group. After checking into our rooms at the Croydon Hotel, we took a tour of the C. B. S. building, seeing both radio and TV facilities. We then walked to the Chicago River, about eight blocks, for a boat tour up the river and out onto Lake Michigan for a wonder view of the city and the North Shore. Later in the evening we watched the cinerama, "Search for Paradise," which was filmed by Lowell Thomas. Saturday morning we loaded on buses to tour the Loop, to the Science and Industry Building, Maxwell Street area, to the Lincoln Park Zoo for a 15-minute walkthrough of the zoo, returning to our hotels briefly before another bus ride to the train station for saying goodbye to Chicago and a five and a half hour trip to Des Moines. It was really quite an experience and one we will never forget. ~ Georgiann Briles
