May 16, 1957 Our Junior-Senior Banquet was in the new lunchroom (former gym). Our theme was Moonlight and Roses with colors red and white. In one corner was a garden with grass on the floor, two park benches, a pink crab apple tree, a grill, picket fence and trellis with roses on them, and a fish pond. A quarter-moon shone in the corner of the garden to carry out the moonlight part of the theme. The centerpiece for the main table was red roses. The menu consisted of Hawaiian cocktail, potatoes and gravy, baked ham, buttered corn, rolls, cerise salad, coffee or milk, cake and ice cream. The program consisted of Welcome Speech by Darwin Luing, a Response by Janice Heintz, Reminiscing by Mr. Curtis, and To the Seniors by Mr. Kenaley. Music was provided by Darwin Luing and the junior trio. Our mothers prepared the banquet meal and we want to thank them for putting in so much time and effort. We also want to thank Miss Burton and Mr. Kenaley and the rest of the faculty for their assistance.

The Prom, the only high school formal of the year, was held Saturday night, May 11, in the lunchroom following the Junior-Senior Banquet. When I entered the lunchroom, I wondered whether I was in the right place because it looked more like a millionaire's patio and rose garden than the lunchroom I see every day. The dance floor was separated from the rest of the room by a white picket fence, which was covered with red roses. To the side of the dance floor was a patio complete with everything from the grill to the moon. The remainder of the lunchroom was filled with tables and chairs. The dance began near 9:00 p.m. with the music furnished by Norva Grey and his Greyhounds from Indianola. About 10:30 there was a short intermission for punch and treats. After we were refreshed we continued to dance until going-home time. Thanks, Juniors, for the wonderful prom.
