March 15, 1951 Girls' Basketball 1950-51 Season Summary: 16 victories and 12 losses with 6 of the losses by one point margin, and 3 of the victories by one point margin - one-third of games decided by a one point margin. One of the prime highlights of the season was defeating Colo 44-40 in the first round of the Story County Tournament and again defeating them 56-53 in the final round of the Sectional Tournament. Both games were played on the Colo home court. The girls advanced to the District Tournament for the first time in thirteen years. They played one of their best games of the season when defeated by the tall Pella Christian team 48-42. Collins led most of the way, but a Pella Rally in the fourth quarter was too much for the Clippers.
Bonnie Long, Barbara Kimberley and Lola Oswalt received Honorable Mention on the All-State team.
The Clippers was one of the shortest team in this area of the state with average height of 5' 3 ?".
Dorothy and Bonnie Long (sisters) won first and second place in the Sectional free throw contest. They advanced to the District contest with Bonnie qualifying for the State contest, making 17 of 25 free throws. Bonnie tied for third place in the State contest with 21 of 25 free throws.
