February 22, 1951 Girls District Basketball Tournament in the Drake Field House at Des Moines: First round - The girls played in the District Tournament for the first time in 13-14 years. The Clipperettes were defeated by a team that had height advantage and were superior in ball handling and speed. Pella's shortest girl was taller than Collins' tallest player. The Clipperettes had a good start with 14-12 lead at the first quarter mark. Half-time score was 21-21. The Clipperettes came out with high and fighting spirits and obtained a 3-point lead at the end of the third-quarter mark. A rally by the Pella girls early in the fourth quarter put them in the lead. Collins girls came within two points. Pella Christian scored two more field goals in the final minutes of the game to win over Collins 48-42. Collins girls had nine fouls and Pella had 24 fouls.
