December 14, 1950 The P. T. A. Christmas program was held Tuesday, December 19 in the high school auditorium. Program: Second Grade children - Rhythm Band; Kindergarten and grades One to Four - A Christmas Dramatization, "The Little Shepherd;" Fifth and Sixth Grades - Operetta - "Colonel Grumpy's Christmas."
Basketball - The girls defeated Melbourne 51-33, leading all the way by a large margin. Phyllis Baker and Joy Milligan looked good on the guards' end of the court. The boys won their 7th and 8th games last week by defeating Melbourne 48-31 and Shipley 64-52. Holland was high point in both games with 24 and 25 points. Phil controlled the rebounds most of the way in both games with the help of outstanding teamwork by Carroll, Frerichs, Liggett, Smith and Duesbury. Family Night Musical Program - The season's second musical program consisted of several numbers by different families of the community, others by the school, and some by outsiders. The finals of Dale Elsworth radio program will be played December 16 at 8:30 A.M. on Station KSO. Collins has three winners who will be included in the finals. The winning school will receive a radio. We hope you will send your cards in for Collins. As a result of this program we have prospective band members and twirlers. Program participants included: Derby family; Partridge family; Walker Smith family; Gilley family; Riddle family; Martin sisters; the school band; the boys chorus; grade school children, accordion band, one-act play.
