December 7, 1950 High School Honor Roll - Barbara Kimberley, Lola Oswalt, Shirley Smith, LeAnn Ridgeway, Bonnie Long, Carolyn Stratton, John Carver, John Duesbury, Larry Heintz, Nora Neale, Norma Keagle, Erwin Frerichs, Joy Milligan, Dorothy Long, Bill Buck, and D. G. Partridge. A total of 24 points is required in a period of six weeks to qualify for the Honor Roll. Points are given as follows: A - 8 points; B - 6 points; C- 4 points; D - 2 points, and perfect attendance is 2 points.
Junior High - The magazine contest is completed and the 7th grade won. The pupils voted that all the money earned would be used to aid in purchasing equipment for the school.
Junior High Basketball - The boys defeated Slater 23-22. The girls were defeated 28-12. A week later boys and girls games were played at Slater with Collins losing both games (Insert 2005: No lineup found).
Basketball - The girls lost a close hard-fought game to Gilbert 49-48. The Gilbert girls led most of the way by a margin of 2-5 points. Collins took a one-point lead within the last two minutes of the game. Then Gilbert forward made a driving lay-up shot for the Gilbert game-winning point. Lola Oswalt, Phyllis Baker, Joy Milligan and Phyllis Carroll all looked good on the guard end of the court. The boys won their 6th game of the season, defeating Gilbert 61-42. Although we were defeated a week before on the Gilbert court, we came back to defeat them on our home floor. Phil Holland led Collins with 24 points. The girls defeated Maxwell 52-33 in a fast game, which Collins led all the way by a margin of seven or more points. The guards did a good job in holding Maxwell forwards to twelve field goals. Barbara Kimberley and Bonnie Long each dropped in 20 points for Collins.
