Grade News 1st Grade Thursday we made butter. We each had our turns at churning and really enjoyed eating our lunch of crackers and butter after our churning was done. We made spelling booklets to write our words in on Fridays. 2nd We've been studying the unit on "Spring Surprises" in health and have each brought a doll dressed in spring clothing. Friday afternoon we walked up town. Margo treated us to ice cream cones. Our new safety poster for this month is "Keep Your Bike Repaired." We found it interesting because some of us have bicycles. We illustrated "The Song of the Donkey" which Miss Jungmann read to us. 3rd Group one has finished reading "More Streets and Roads" and have started "Wide Wings." 5th and 6th Several people brought articles this week. Quentin brought us an Easter lily with two blossoms on it; Wilma brought a bouquet of narcissus; Norlyn showed us his two baby foxes in connection with his report in English, and we had two interesting things from others rooms. Ronnie M. showed us some shoes from the Philippines and from Holland, and Sharon H. brought her black rabbit for us to see. Daisy Mary has shown us some clothing from China and Donna H. some articles from Japan. We want to thank everyone for sharing their things with us because it makes our lessons so much more interesting. We had our first baseball game of the season this week when we played against the seventh and eighth grades. We lost, but it was fun anyway. Rex. Ben, John and Quentin made the scores for our team.

April 27, 1950 Personality of the Week - She is the mild-mannered and modest "Mabel." She delves in the same field as Frankie Carle and Jon Paderewski; in other words, she took second in the music contest. Her gracious smile was also for her benefit in winning this award. Some of her favorites are: Food - anything, just so it's something to eat; Drink - Coke; Subject - She really doesn't have one; Actor - William Holden; Actress - Barbara Hale; Movie - "Jolson Sings Again;" Orchestra - Spike Jones. She is Norma Keagle.
