January 12, 1950 Grade News: 1st - Since this is the new year, we have been talking about the year in general lessons. We found the year is divided into days, weeks, months, and seasons. We are learning the names of the months. 2nd - We are studying Indian life and are making Wig-Wams, baskets, pottery, beads, canoes, totem poles and moccasins out of clay. John Tiffany brought a bow and arrow and Harry Smith brought a birdhouse made by the Indians.

Personality of the Week: This is a senior boy who is well known for his basketball playing. He is also good at baseball. He is 17, has brown hair and eyes, is 5' 10" tall. Some of his favorites are: Color - Silver or Blue; Movie - "Sands of Iwo Jima;" Food - Hamburger; Sport - Basketball; Past time - reading; Actor - John Wayne; Actress - Gail Russell; Drink - Coke; Song - "My Bucket's Got A Hole In It." Book - "Golden Hawk;" Ambition - To make a million on used cars. He is Dick (Ricardo) Cory.

In a game very important to the Collins girls, Maxwell was defeated 32-29. It was a close, hard-fought game throughout. Lineup: B. Long 9 pts.; Kimberley 11 pts.; C. Long 12 pts.; D. Long 0 pts; Janes (g); Atwood (g); Baker (g); Oswalt (g).

In a very good game at Collins, the hometown girls won over Zearing 38-25. The Lineup: B. Long 14 pts.; Kimberley 15; C. Long 9 pts.; D. Long 0 pts.; Atwood (g); Janes (g); Baker (g); Oswalt (g); Boozell (g).
