Baseball - The team opened the season with a win over Shipley 9-7. Outstanding hitters were Johnson and Boozell, each with two hits. Holland's pinch-hitting in the 5th inning started a rally, which tallied three runs to win the game. September 22, 1949 Sectional baseball tournament - Collins park will be the site of the high school beginning September 24. Tournament teams are Lamoille, Rhodes, Van Cleve, Collins, Clemons, Laurel, and Farrar.

Mrs. Grisette, the County Public Health Nurse and Mrs. Seivers, the County Representative of the State Department of Special Education, met with all of the teachers of the Collins School. The purpose was to acquaint the teachers with the work they are prepared to do in the county. This year special attention will be given to children handicapped by defective sight or hearing. Speech clinics will also be maintained this year.
