Second round - Collins defeated Slater 34-21, leading first quarter 6-4, 14-13 halftime, and 29-16 third quarter for 34-21 final score. Lineup: Lonnie Boozell 12 pts.; Dick Cory 15 pts.; Chris Buck 0 pts.; Bob McBride 0 pts.; Charles Fish 0 pts.; Phil Holland 6 pts.; Bill Hand 1 pt; Kenny Carroll 0 pts.; Larry Smith 0 pts. A mere handful of spectators braved the snowstorms to attend the games. The second round games at the northern sites were not played, due to severe weather conditions. The rest of the tournament has been postponed indefinitely until road conditions permit the remaining games to be played in the Nevada school field house.
Semifinals - Huxley defeated Collins boys 40-24 after holding a mere 18-15 halftime margin. Both teams played far below par ball in the first two quarters. Huxley showed much improvement and more speed after halftime, quickly increasing the margin to 24-15. February 17, 1949 The Junior Class had a sliding party Thursday evening on Campbell's hill. Twelve of the class attended and Mrs. Maifeld (teacher) attended. After sliding, refreshments were served at Jackie Keagle's home.
Basketball - Colo girls defeated Collins 43-37. Karol Buffington starred for Colo girls, scoring 29 points. Collins girls had balanced scoring with Barbara Kimberley with 14 and Jo Ann Fertig 13 and Bonnie Long 10. The boys played a tight defense, holding Colo to five field goals for the game. Dick Cory led the scoring with 13, Chris Buck and Phil Holland had 12 each. Collins led throughout the game with final score of 45-17.
Both boys and girls teams won Conference games, defeating Shipley.
Girls won 54-48 with Jo Ann Fertig scoring 28 points, Bonnie Long 17.
Boys won 42-34 with Dick Cory and Lonnie Boozell scoring 11 points each and Phil Holland 10 points. (Insert 2005: Box score not found for above games)

Final session of the Adult Evening School will take place at the schoolhouse Monday evening with dinner at 7:00 P.M. followed by a musical program and graduation exercises. The school cooks will prepare the dinner and the 4-H girls will serve.
