A bit of news the Gazette would rather not print is that Supt. and Mrs. R. A. Long and family are leaving Collins soon. The death of his father last week made it necessary that he resign his position and take charge of the grocery store he purchased from his father in Monticello this past summer. It is understood the local school board has good prospects for securing a successor to Mr. Long.
October 30, 1947 Editorial - In the last few years the Collins school kids have had every color of school colors from red to green. In so many schools, when a student obtains a school sweater, he gets one which represents the school colors. If you have one specific color, people can tell what school you attend. Also, if there is one set color, it gives the cheerleaders for yells at the ballgames and pep rallies. What do you say students? Let's all choose one school color and stick to it.
School News - A lot of sad students because Mr. Long is leaving. He is wearing a new wristwatch given to him by students of C. H. S. and faculty in appreciation of his fine work in the school and other activities.
