July 8, 1943 School budget estimates; the general pattern of the budget proposals is much the same as during the past year except for the following deviations: (1) It has been necessary to allocate increases for the salaries of all school employees, roughly an increase of 20%. (2) Greatly reduced allotments have been made for the purchase of new equipment. (3) Reduced allotments have been made to the school house fund due to the decrease in interest since a large number of bonds were retired during the past year.
August 12, 1943 Collins School will open on August 30. For the first time in history, a full year of Primary work will be offered to beginning pupils. Certain elective subjects are being offered for the first time this year, provided sufficient pupils enroll to make a class. Among such subjects are: Junior business training, chemistry, problems of democracy, and first year Latin.
