September 26, 1940 Social - The first all high school gathering took place last Thursday evening at Inman's timber. A few freshmen were mildly initiated, chased up a tree, and a very exciting game of kitten ball ensued. After the activities, we ate wieners, beans, marshmallows, potato chips. No casualties were reported.

October 3, 1940 First baseball game won by Collins this season: Collins 5, Fernald 3 in extra innings.
October 17, 1940 Baseball - Collins won game with Rhodes, 3-0. Joe Anderson and Jack Fertig pitched for Collins. (No box score found).
October 31, 1940 One-act Play - "Eddie Greets a Hero" will be presented Saturday evening by high school students. Cast is: Keith Swanson, Dorrell Taylor, Lois Hattery, Mary Reed, Naomi Gilley, and Betty Griffioen.
Puppet Show - The whole school enjoyed the "Pinocchio" show presented Wednesday afternoon. After the play, pupils were shown how a puppet is handled to make the actions.
Junior Class of Collins High School presents "Little Women," Friday, November 1. Director - Ellen Holmes. Cast is: Anne Fish, Anoka Elliott, Luella Dolph, Flo Signs, Harriett Cooper, Reid Beavers, Karol Robinson, Margaret Kimberley, Charles Kimberley, Jack Fertig, Jack Stratton, John Tiffany, Gretchen Mead, Lois Elliott, Mildred Kimberley, Dorothy Johnston, Lucy Noring, Wanda Lou Brown.
Sports - Basketball practice is now well underway and it looks as though there is pretty good prospects. The schedule is made out and printed on pencils that can be obtained from Mr. Erickson - Supt.
First Grade - There were two big brown owls down in the shop. We saw them hiss-hiss. I guess they didn't like us. We wrote another story to read. It is about the zoo. John Henry brought his dental card back. There are ten cards up on our chart already.
November 14, 1940 A pep meeting was held with many new yells tried and pep talks given by several members of the basketball teams. Music was supplied by the junior band. Election of cheerleaders was held - Naomi Gilley, Keith Swanson and Frankie Miller elected regular leaders. Betty Griffioen, Forrest Pointer and Bob Keagle, assistants.
