December 21, 1939 Debate The seniors are busy on the debate "Government Ownership and Operation of Railroads" to be presented at P. T. A. Thursday night. The class period on Monday was spent in organizing the material, and getting it ready for presentation.
Basketball The Collins girls defeated the Colo girls 45-23 Dec. 12. Minnie Sheibley made 24 points for Collins and Brown 14 points for Colo. The Collins boys won 22-21 from Colo. The winning basket was a long shot by Holland in the last three minutes of play. Holland made 11 points for Collins, Lounsberry made 10 points for Colo.
The Collins girls suffered defeat at the Hands of the Maxwell girls 51-28. Maxine Ashba made 33 points for her team and Bonnie Signs 11 points for Collins. The undefeated Maxwell boys narrowly won their game from Collins 29-26. Dave Evans made 13 points for Maxwell and Holland made 14 for Collins. Both teams swear they will get revenge.
January 11, 1940 The Dramatic Club will present three one-act plays January 19 in the school auditorium. "Little Caesar," a comedy, will be presented by the following cast: Berle Robinson, Dorothy Carver, John Tiffany, Isabel Coughenour. "The Spider," a mystery play, will have a cast of: Anoka Elliott, Mildred Atkinson, Mildred Kimberley, Gretchen Mead, Flo Signs, Tom Pemberton, Winifred Kimes, Karol Robinson. "Jubie," a comedy with a cast of: Ann Fish, Keith Swanson, George Kimberley, Juanita Bates, Lois Hattery, Leona Gilley. Reserved seats on sale at the West Side Barbershop. Admission 15 and 25 cents.
