News of the Grades - Third Grade Arithmetic - We learned to borrow or take away in subtraction. English - We are studying contractions. Contract means to make shorter. Health: We learned more of the foods that are healthful. Art - We cut, colored and pasted a Pilgrim boy. Fourth Grade Arithmetic - We had multiplication using a two-figure multiplier.
Social Twenty-five members of the Junior Citizenship league attended the U. B. church in a body Sunday. They were accompanied by Miss Signs and Mr. Holmes.
November 25, 1937 The boys and girls of the Collins high school basketball squads kept their perfect percentage for the season Tuesday night when they visited Maxwell. The girls won by a 28-26 count and the boys out pointed the Maxwell fellows, 12 to 10. The next game is Tuesday night, Nov. 30, when the Mingo teams come here.
Friday, December 3, is the date for the Hawkeye Dinner Club from KRNT to appear on the Collins High School stage.
December 2, 1937 The Collins boys won their third consecutive victory Friday night from Maxwell, 12 to 10 on the latter's floor: Lineup: Shearer, f , 6 pts; Robinson, f, 2 pts.; Hanson, c, 2 pts; Carver, g, 2 pts; Neale, g, 0 pts. The boys and girls lost a badly played game to Mingo Tuesday, Nov. 30. The passes of both boys and girls were incomplete.
Miss Swenson, 1st grade teacher visited her home in Story City during the Thanksgiving vacation.
News of the Grades - First Grade: We had a Thanksgiving party. The second graders came to our room. We sang songs for them. We dramatized a story. The story was "The Wee Little Woman." Then we played games. We each had an apple. We all had a good time. Everyone in the first grade had a nice Thanksgiving dinner. Some of us had turkey, some had chicken, some had duck.
December 9, 1937 Collins basketball girls won their second game of the season from Farrar Friday night, with a score of 35 to 21. The Collins basketball boys were victorious again, winning over Farrar by a score of 28-11. The score at half was 13-6 in favor of the home team.
