The Collins high school is sponsoring an amateur contest to be held in the school auditorium next Wednesday evening, Nov. 10, at 8 o'clock, with Ranny Daly of radio station KRNT as master of ceremonies. It is hoped that local amateurs will turn out in full force and with the public make a real success of the affair. Any amateur is eligible to compete. Contestants must pay an entry fee of 15c. First Prize-Opportunity to appear on Hawkeye Dinner Hour over Station KRNT. Second Prize-Three Dollars. Third Prize-Two Dollars. Admission: Adults 25c; Jr. and Sr. High 20c; Grades 4, 5, 6, 15c. Lower Grades Free Admission.
November 11, 1937 The second meeting of the Home Economics club was held at 10 O'clock Tuesday morning. An initiation ceremony was given for the ninth grade girls who wished to join. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Dorothy Titus, Naomi Gilley, Jeane Tipton and Juanita Bates, accompanied at the piano by Dorothy Kracht. A new name for the club, Collins Lively Links, and colors, wine and gold, were chosen.
Assembly The National Education Week was observed in assembly. It was introduced by Gola Mullihan. A poem which was a tribute to Horace Mann, the founder of Public School Education in U. S.

High School News The Seniors are feeling very proud. Their class rings have arrived. Those who have taken their first speed test in typing and have made scores of 20 or more words per minute are Hansel Hanson, Maxine Huntrods, Katherine Pritchard, Jane fish, Velda Shickell, Leonora Vasey and Minnie Loo Fish. Minnie Loo has the highest score so far. Her score is 28. Velda has been the only student to make no mistakes in her speed test. Her score was 20.
November 18, 1937 High School News The Animal Husbandry class is balancing economical feed rations of live stock. The Farm Management class is budgeting farm income and expense. This will be followed by keeping farm accounts. The ninth grade shop boys are working with Keene's cement. The natural color of the cement when done is white but the boys can mix coloring. They have red, blue and green coloring. Junior High News The 7th and 8th grade shop students are making several articles in woodwork, such as; a small bobsled, flower stands, shelves, magazine racks, tool kits and cabinets. The Junior High students start basketball this week. The boys will practice on Tuesday and the girls on Friday. They will be coached by Mr. Holmes. They hope to play several games during the season. Fourth Grade Spelling - Those who had perfect papers are Loren Rhodes, Patty Fertig, Gordon Holland, Donald Snyder, Robert Titus, Eugene Van Pilsum.
Assembly Monday morning was sponsored by Mr. Mullin. Harriet Sheibley gave a talk on the history of basketball and information on the change of the girls' rules this year. Keith Shearer talked on boys' basketball and told of the decisive change in boys' rules (Insert 2004: Eliminate center jump after each basket). Yell leaders were elected. Kathleen Snyder and Harold Hale received the highest number of votes.
