The first Home Ec. Club meeting since school started was held at the school house Wednesday night at 7:30. The officers were elected as follows: Pres. - Dorothy Kracht; Vice Pres. - Dorothy Titus; Sec'y-Treas. - Daisy Renfeldt; Reporter - Juanita Bates. The following committee chairmen w ere chosen: Constitution - Jeane Tipton; Program - Doris Brown; Initiation - Juanita Bates; Social - Dorothy Carver. During each noon hour the students have their choice of playing ping pong and shooting baskets in the gym or playing checkers, visiting, and listening to the school radio in the library. We are going to attempt some students' self-control this year and have chosen student proctors for each month. The proctors are requested to be directors of the activities and are given authority to report any person who fails to conduct himself properly.
Voc. Ag. News A number of the Vocational Agricultural students and the 4-H club members and their parents are planning to attend the club calf sale to be held at Des Moines next Saturday, Oct. 30. The animal husbandry class visited the C. W. Kimberley home last Thursday forenoon and used their calves as a class in judging work. Tom Carver has kindly consented to allow the farm management class to study his farm as a project in connection with their work in farm management.

Center jump after each basket eliminated. Ball "put in play" by opposing team player standing out of bounds near shooting team's basket to make in-bounds pass to advance ball up court.
10 seconds to get the ball over the time line
Cannot return the ball to the back court (back over 10 second time line) until
1. A try for the goal has been made, or
2. A jump ball at center or elsewhere has taken place, or
3. An "out-of-bounds" recovered from the possession of the opponents
Basketball Eleven boys and 17 girls responded for the first call for basketball practice Monday. The boys have three lettermen back from last year's team, while the girls have five letter winners returning. Ten home games have been scheduled, and seven away from home. November 4, 1937 New County Superintendent E. P. Schindler, principal of the Madrid high school for the past six years, was elected superintendent of the Story county schools at a convention of 29 delegates from various schools and townships of the county. Nine filed as candidates for the office.
