February 18, 1937 Boys will travel to Ames to play Shipley in opening round of the 16th (began 1921) Annual Story County Basketball Tournament. Collins in Class B, Classes based on high school enrollment. Class A schools of 100 or over, Class B schools 50-100, Class C Less than 50
Collins boys won over Shipley in first round, 28-19 Lost to Cambridge by 2 points in second round, 24-22. Winner Class A Nevada; Winner Class B Cambridge; Winner Class C Kelley.
February 18, 1937 Thursday evening Collins will play Shipley in girls' county tourney. Shipley has won all but one of their games this season
February 25, 1937 Collins Girls Made Fine showing in their first appearance in the Story County Basketball Tourney. It required the final session of the girls' county Basketball tournament at Maxwell Monday night to put the Collins High girls out of the race - and even then they were only nosed out by Maxwell by 21 - 19. The local girls played swell ball through the tournament and we're all proud of `em! First round: Collins defeated a strong Shipley team 28-27 and also had second round victory - Collins 23, Cambridge 18; Final: Very close loss to Maxwell 21 - 19.
State Sectional Boys' Basketball March 4, 5, 6, Collins will play Farrar in class B.
March 4, 1937 School Election next Monday. For directors, L. D. (Lloyd) Holland, A. W. Kracht and G. C. Fish are only names printed on ballots, all of whom are now serving on the board.
Collins Girls won over Mitchellville in opening round of the sectional tournament 25-13.
Collins Girls lost to Maxwell in 2nd round - Maxwell girls handed Collins another stinging defeat 31-15. This defeat eliminated them from the sectional tournament.
Boys' basketball team will journey to Colo Thursday night where they encounter the Farrar quintet in the opening round of the boys' sectional tournament. In two games played earlier in the season the local five have lost one and won one.
