April 9, 1936 Collins Musicians Place "Excellent" in Music Contest. For the first time in several years, the Collins school was represented in a sub-district music contest, which was held in Nevada. Out of the three entries, Collins won two excellent's - Mixed sextet, Marie Haas contralto solo, and the girls' trio won good rating.
May 7, 1936 First band concert of the season will be by the high school band on Main Street, May 9.

Collins Pupils to take part in music festival. The local schools will be dismissed for the day with better than a hundred (70 grade students and between 25 and 30 high school students) pupils taking part in the various events (County Music festival in Ames, 5-8-36)
