In the four games played between these team this season Collins downed Maxwell 47 to 30 in an early season game, played to a 30-30 tie in a late season game, and Maxwell took a hard fought 24 to 23 decision during the Story county girls tournament at Maxwell last week. Consequently, enthusiasm was at its height Tuesday evening, the Cambridge gym being packed for the game, which decided the league championship. In the other game of the evening, the Maxwell boys trimmed Collins to the tune of 24 to 40. (Insert 2004: Girls are first champions of the South Story Six League organized Sept. 1935.)

March 24, 1936 Junior High School operetta "Aunt Drusilla's Garden" to be presented March 27. Cast: Juanita Bates, Jeane Tipton, Dorothy Kracht, Donald Deal, Floyd Carver, James Holmes, Caryl Jean McCord.

March 24, 1936 Grade Loud Speaker - Fourth Grade: We made a poster of a ship in art. We are studying our festival songs. They are: Sailor Lads, Long, Long Ago, London Bridge. Monday we got 84, Wednesday 84, Friday 97 in spelling. In hygiene we are studying proper foods and what they do for us. In geography we are studying about a little boy named Andere. He lives in Paris, France. We dramatized the story of "Snow White and Rose Red," Friday. Fifth Grade: In spelling Monday we got 85, Wednesday 92, Friday 96. In English we are studying about the apostrophe. We are learning songs for the music festival. In reading we read the story about Robin Hood. In arithmetic we have been doing subtraction of fractions. Sixth Grade: In Miss Byal's room we are having division of decimals. In music Wednesday we wrote a song called "Going to Market." It is one of our festival songs. In art Tuesday we made a spring poster. In ancient history Friday we read a story called "Charlemagne, a Man of Peace."

G. E. Holmes named superintendent. Collins Board announces the selection at their called meeting on Monday, G. E. Holmes to succeed Supt. E. R. Cope, who resigned. Mr. Holmes is a highly recommended graduate of Iowa State University, receiving both B. S. and M. A. degrees. [Insert 2004: Mr. Cope was superintendent from 1927 through 1936 school year.]
