February 9, 1928 Seniors’ Play The Seniors’ one-act play, “Sauce for the Goslings,” is now ready for presentation at P.T.A. next Tuesday night. Father, mother and grandmother give a shocking demonstration of modernism that has the jazzy son and daughter and the perfect-mannered guest in an inferno of embarrassment. Elena Mead, as grandmother, Velma Pitcher as mother, Wayne Vasey as father, Walter Keagle and Hilda Witmer as the rebellious son and daughter, and Ronald Cummings as the guest, make up the cast.
February 14, 1928 Collins Loses to Slater. The girls received an 18-17 defeat. Slater’s most sensational battle of the season culminated in this score, and they may well feel proud of their night’s work. We reluctantly admit that the boys dished up a terrible brand of basketball and Slater played a mighty good game combined to form a nightmare that ended with our reeking scalps in the opponents’ belt as a result of a 32-6 score.
The Collins boys’ basketball team plans to enter the county tournament. The meet will be held at Ames.

The buses are having a severe test in the shape of bad roads lately. The drivers say that the gravel is like quicksand and the dirt roads closely resemble glue.
The Freshman civics class are making a practical study of politics. They have subdivided into districts, each pupil representing a district with the allotted number of votes. The “districts” make a study of the needs of their territory and vote accordingly. Carl Atkinson is the temporary chairman. Lloyd Patton is the chairman of the republican convention to be held later.
February 23, 1928 Collins Loses two to Mingo Tuesday night’s basketball games between Collins and Mingo, here resulted in a hair-breadth defeat of the local boys, 19 to 18, and a more decisive defeat of the girls, 39 to 21. The local boys’ basketball team entries from the Story County tournament at the Ames field house next Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Collins will play the winner of the Huxley-Zearing contest at 4 p.m. Friday in the county tourney.
