Bell promised the schools a cut of the profit, although charging only 10 cents admission. He said he didn't want any child to miss the show. The goofy humor, unique films, and information about different countries was remembered by the kids and very likely offered greater educational and entertaining benefits than regular class times. As Bell aged, he was joined by his wife, whose shrill voice added to the program.
In 1980 Al turned the show over to Warren Grant, who continued the program for several years. Al passed on in 1993, age 87; wife Rhea deceased in 2005.
Our Iowa accolades to Al Bell's unique talent; wife Rhea and children's support enabled quality double achievements of education and entertainment beyond the local rural community.
