Poweshiek County Historical
and Genealogical Society


The Poweshiek County Historical and Genealogical Society was organized in 1978.  It is dedicated to the preservation of historical information about Poweshiek County and its residents.  

The Society maintains a library and museum in Montezuma, the seat of Poweshiek County.  Volunteers may be available to assist in research.  Currently about 200 members belong to the society.

Hours:
Mondays and Thursdays:  9:00 am to 4:00 pm,
Saturdays:  9:00 am to 2:00 pm,
  and by appointment.
Note:  Hours may vary during winter months - please call ahead for details.

Meetings:
First Thursday of each month, except December, January and February.
The Board meets at 1:00 PM.  The general meeting follows at 1:30 PM.

Membership:
Annual membership, July through the following June, is $15.00.

Publications:
The Society publishes a quarterly newsletter, "The Searcher", subscription for which is included in the cost of membership.  The last page of each edition of "The Searcher" lists other Poweshiek County historical publications the Society offers for sale.  Inquire about other publications available.

Query Information:
