My great great great great grandmother, Eda Ann (Boyd) House was born 23 Aug 1827, Memphis, Tennessee and died 1 Sep 1919, Merrill, Plymouth Twp., Plymouth County, Iowa.  She was the daughter of William Washington Boyd and Mary McCracken .  Eda Ann was raised in Cumberland, Maryland.  On 3 Nov 1843, at Bedford Co., Pennsylvania, she became the wife of Henry Harrison House .      They moved to Iowa City, Iowa in 1853, they remained in the vincinity until 1882, when they made a short move to Miami County, Kansas.  In April 1884, they moved to Nebraska (Dawson and Custer County area).  "Harry" died July 15th, 1887, in one room of their sod house as a granddaughter was being born in another room.  After Eda Ann proved the homestead she moved around to several of her children's households.

Eda Ann (Boyd) House taken in 1908, by Dabb's Studio in LeMars, Iowa.  Eda Ann was 81 at the time of this photo.  The town of Merrill called her "Grandma House,"  as she was every ones elder.  She spoke with a deep southern accent, and loved the Methodist church where she would often rejoice by standing up and yelling "Amen."

Eda Ann and Henry were the parents of 13 children (taken from her bible record): (1) Emily Priscilla m. John McAdams , (2) Mary Ellen m. Thomas C. Nolan , (3) Rebecca Rachael m. Abraham Talbott , (4) Emma Catherine m. Frank June (they moved to Merrill in 1899), (10) Lillian Edith , (11) James Washington , (12) William Boyd House , all died young, and (13) Newton Allen House m. This photo was taken at Dabb's Studio in LeMars, Iowa in 1899.  4 generations: Grandmother, Emma House Hancer (1852-1917), subject, Georgene Edith (Winter) Harrison (1896-1989), great grandmother, Eda Ann (Boyd) House (1827-1919), and mother, Estella May (Hancer) Winter (1872-1956).  Eda Ann died 5 months prior to the birth of Georgene's son, (a great great grandson) Dean Oliver Harrison (1920-1991), an event she was very excited about.  Dean was the father of Candi Jean (Harrison) Herbst (of Merrill, Iowa), and grandfather of Justin Herbst (of Merrill) and Noel Herbst Henrich (of LeMars).
