THE TENEMENT HOUSE

An old store building had been moved to the present site of Gibson'ssales barn and this was the center of the colored people for a number of years, as many as five families occupying it at one time. The epidemic of diphtheria played havoc on the smaller children, and five little ones were buried in the potter's field, in a short period of time. This old tenement house was occupied by the Digs, Pattersons, Robinsons, Peytons and Andersons.
