MINING COMPANY

The Bower Mining Company was incorporated Jan. 15, 1879 by Allen Breed, Geo. W. Hise, Isaac Heald, T. W. Rogers, T. W. Hoge, I. C. Nichols, Mahlon Hollingsworth, and Geo. W. Hamdy.

Allen Breed was president; T. W. Rogers, vice president; Isaac Heald, secretary; and G. W. Handy, superintendent. The capital stock of the company was ten million dollars, represented by one hundred thousand shares all subscribed and paid up.

The company's claim was located in El Dorado county, Calif. To operate the mine it was necessary to run a tunnel about 600 feet in length from the American Canyon and a shaft to be sunk at the terminus of the tunnel. On the 20th of March, 1879, 140 feet of the tunnel had been completed.
