The town of Durant is located in Farmington Township, Cedar County. Many refer to it as a Tri-County town for part of its' land rests on Cedar, Muscatine and Scott Counties. U.S. maps show the cemetery to be located in Muscatine County, Fulton Township. The entrance to the cemetery is from Vail Avenue which is the dividing line between the counties.
The Durant Cemetery records may be viewed at the Durant City Hall / Durant Station Library, 402 6th St., Durant, Cedar County. The Fulton Township Clerk of Muscatine County also has a copy.
Directions
From Muscatine (city): take Route 61 east then turn north on Vail Avenue and go about 6 miles. The cemetery will be on the right.
From the town of Durant: turn east on State Hwy 927 (aka Historic Route 6 aka 5th Street), then turn south on Vail Avenue. Cross railroad tracks and then the cemetery entrance will be on the left.
