This is Leonard Schurdiven. His Mother was Helen McClain. She was the daughter of George and Cinderilla McClain. Cinderilla was a Walden-the daughter of Henry and Charlotte Walden. Leonard ended up in Norman County, MN.

He was born March 1900. **1905 Iowa State Census, Monona Co., Lake Twp. shows this same family as: Lorn Schurdiven, Head; Helen, wife; Cecil, son; and Leo, son. This is a picture of my grandfather James Porter Dorothy who was born 17 Aug 1885, in Ute, Iowa. His parents were Edward Perry and Phoebe (Booher) Dorothy. He was a home town boy; born, raised and is buried in St. Mary's cemetery next to his wife Grace Margaret (Winter). He ran his father's hardware business and later became the Post Master of Ute, Iowa.

This is a photo of my mother, Mary Margaret (Dorothy) Niemann, wife of William Robert Niemann & daughter of James Porter & Grace (Winter) Dorothy. She was born 13 June 1924 in Ute, Iowa, so I'm guessing this might be either 1925 or 1926. ~Submitted by her daughter, Cindy Leister **Note her darling clothes and look closely at the old car parked on the left side of the photograph. |
