SILVER CITY LODGE NO. 403 I.O.O.F.

Silver City Lodge No. 403 was organized on March 5. 1880, with seven charter members as follows: E.F. Landon, A.U. Crosby, J.R. Allison, R.B. Parish, Webster Mains, and L.E. Patterson.

The first officers were E.F. Landon Noble Grand. AC. Crosby — Vice Grand, W.B. Oaks — Secretary. R.B. Parish — Past Grand, and C.P. Bateman Warden. In 1891 a fire destroyed the building and burnt all the books and records of the lodge.

Members of the Silver City Lodge No. 403 met in the class room of the Methodist Church on December 5, 1891. It was moved and seconded that all members of this lodge be considered square on the books and that dues begin as of January 1. 1882. It was moved that the trustees be authorized to rent the second story of the Bank Building.

Mr. E.F. Landon was a 50-year member in May of 1904.He was initiated into Delhi Lodge No. 250 at Delhi, Ohio on May 22, 1854. Other 50-year members were Lewis Hettinger 1931, and Frank Pullman, 1949. The Silver City Lodge closed in May of 1966. and the men joined Glenwood Lodge No. 97.
