THE NEW GAS PLANT

The new gas plant is now completed, and everything running nicely. It was turned over to Messrs. Pearson and Hepler today, and they seem to be well pleased with the new light, and well they should, for it produces a clear, bright and powerful light, cheaper than kerosene, not even considering the vast difference in the lights.

The rooms that will be lighted by this new process are as follows: Pearson’s store room, including opera house, and L. W. Huffaker’s office rooms, John Pullman’s implement room, M. O. Hanks & Co. drug store, Hepler’s store room, Bada’s meat market building, the bank building, including Moore and McCue’s office, and the Lodge room, Sederburg’s furniture store and the post office.

This covers the entire east side of the square, and all are more than pleased. From here the company sends their men to Hastings to work up a similar plant. If successful, our neighboring town of Hastings cannot but be pleased. Reference: Silver City Times, January 26, 1899
