        Robert B. Van Dyke was born at Fredonia, Iowa , April 26,1871, the son of Jacob and Hannah Fowler Van Dyke. His marriage to Anna B. Smith took place February 21, 1894, at Omaha, Nebraska. He made his home in Muscatine for some 40 years prior to his death. He was a retired railroad man, a member of the First Methodist church, and of the Masonic Order.

        His death occurred April 17, 1956. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery in Muscatine, Iowa. Surviving at that time were, Edward Van Dyke of Muscatine, Paul Van dyke of Helena, Montana, Mrs. Ruth Mucha, of Muscatine ,Iowa, Mrs. Lillian Cracker of Davenport, Iowa, twelve grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.
