MRS. LILLIAN TAYLOR SNYDER

Transcribed by Beverly Gerdts, submitted June 13, 2017

Mrs. Lillian Taylor came to Fredonia from Adel, in the fall of 1922, to teach in our grade school, and remained to make Fredonia her home. Her husband passed away in January, 1913, leaving her with the care and support of two children. With all the courage and faith at her command, she shouldered her load. She taught school here for several years, and entered into social life, taking part in whatever the occasion demanded. She was a loyal church worker, served as superintendent of our Sunday school for several years, and was very instrumental in the progress of our church. She served as pianist for the church, was president of our church club, and was usually called on to coach any program for the church of community project. She was a member of the Silver Leaf Rebekah Lodge No. 394, and of the past Noble Grand. She was a very capable, highly respected lady, and at her passing on March 28, 1943, our community felt a great loss.

Her children were Doris Snyder, who became the wife of Ralph Snyder, and they are the parents of one son, Forest, who is associated with the J. C. Case Co, in Davenport, Iowa. He is married and they have family of three lovely children, Beverly June, Ralph Thomas, and Joyce Elaine. They have a lovely home in Davenport, and his wife Evelyn, is a practical nurse.

Mrs. Taylor Snyder's son is Martin Taylor, who was united in marriage to Darlene Schneck, and make their home in Bettendorf, Iowa. They have a nice family of four children, Gloria Jean, Johnie, Linda and Douglas Allen.
