Transcribed by Beverly Gerdts, submitted June 13, 2017

Marguerite was born in Fredonia, December 31, 1924, and received her education in the local schools, with the exception at one year at Wayland high school, and her senior year, which was spent in Hermosa Beach, Calif., where she graduated at the Redondo high school in the spring of 1934. After she finished high school, she was employed as operator of a Comptograph machine, then as drill press operator. After the end of the war, she returned to Fredonia with her parents, for a while, then enrolled in the Business College at Fayetteville, Arkansas, where she met and married her husband, Walter M. Smith, who was a student at the same school. He is the son of Walter and Camelia Smith, of McGee, Arkansas. After their marriage, Walter secured a position at the Martin Roses Caterpillar shop in Davenport, where he worked until March, 1953, when he transferred to the Aliis Chalmers shop in Milan, Illinois, where he is manager of that shop.

They have a nice home in Davenport, and are the proud parents of five little boys: Larry T., Jerry A., Gerry B., Terry W., and Perry E., five future heart breakers. Mr. and Mrs. Smith take an active part in church and school work. At present, Mrs. Smith is room mother at the school where two of her boys attend. They are all members if the Lutheran church in Davenport.
