We are very sorry not to be able to get more information on the early life and history of Mr. Lee. He was well known and remembered by so many. At an early date, Jim started in the barber trade, and built the little shop that was known for so many years by so many. He was an important part of Fredonia history. He was united in marriage to Jessie Schmidt, and had a nice family of three girls and one boy. Geneva taught school for several years previous to her marriage to Earnest McRoberts, and continues to teach. They are the parents of two children, and make their home in Columbus Junction. Alice became the wife of Harold Edmondson, a veteran of World War I, a member of the famous Rainbow Division. They make their home in Columbus Junction, where Harold is employed at the post office. Naoma Jane became the wife of Ralph Morrison, and have a nice family of four children.

Paul Lee, the only son, has never married, and makes his home with Mr. and Mrs Edmonson. The Lee children have all spent a part of their married lives in Fredonia, and have helped in the development and progress of our little town.

The Schmidt family were among the early resident here , and no doubt have a very interesting history, if we could obtain it.

Fred Schmidt was a well known personage here, and for many years operated a blacksmith shop here. Amanda became Mr. George Kranz and operated a green house and florist shop in Muscatine until their death. Henry Schmidt was a railroad man, and was a resident here for several years. The Schmidt and Lees did their part to improve our town, and were highly respected citizens.
