Robert Curtis grew to manhood in this community and received his education in the local schools. Then went to Iowa State college, where he studied agriculture. He went to Raleigh, North Carolina, in 1906, where he taught animal husbandry at the state college. In 1907 he was united in marriage to Harriett Spangler of Lohrville, Iowa. He was on the faculty of North Carolina State college until 1928, when he entered business for himself. In 1934, he joined the Farm Security Administration, which he left in 1942, to become a livestock specialist for the state department of Agriculture. Mr. Curtis is the author of two books, “Livestock Judging and selection,” which was used as a text book for a number of years in 15 American colleges. The other, “Cottonseed Meal, Its Origin, History, and Research.” And he has just completed a ten volume history of the “Livestock industry,” in North Carolina. It is now in the press.

For the past several years Mr. and Mrs. Curtis have made their home near Raleigh, North Carolina. They are the parents of five sons, and three daughters.
