MAX LEROY AND MAXINE MAE BLIVEN

        Max and Maxine were born August 2, 1919, at Conesville, but the home was near Fredonia. Maxine died at the age of one year and six months of age, February 15, 1921. Max grew to adulthood in Fredonia and received his education in the local schools. After high school, he went to Kansas City, Missouri, where he worked for a time and attended night school, with the intentions of becoming a Certified Public Accountant. On December 17, 1940, he enlisted in the army at Fort Leavenworth , Kansas. He spent one year in the Officers Reserve Headquarters in Kansas City, and one year in St. Louis, Missouri, then was sent to the newly organized 95th , Inf. Dev. A year later he was transferred to the fighting 69th, and was sent overseas with them. He participated in two campaigns, the Rhineland and Central Europe. It was a patrol from this regiment that went out to meet the Russians, just before V. E. Day. He received several citations, among them, the Purple Heart and two Oak Leaf clusters. He returned with the 69th, and was discharged September 22, 1945.

        On June8, 1946, he was untied in marriage to Mary Katherine Levell, of Kansas City. Her father passed away when she was quite young. Her mother, Katherine Levell and a brother reside in Kansas City. Max and Mary are both active in church and social work. Max has served as deacon of the church and president o the church club. Mary teachers a class of small children and is Den Mother to a group of Cub Scouts.

        They are the parents of two fine children: Donald, who has been battling an attack of Polio for the past three years ,and winning the battle. He is a fine young man of nine years, and pretty little auborn-haired Patricia Ann is their only daughter and is six years old. Maxis employed as “Controller” at the North American Savings Association in Kansas City, Missouri, and have a lovely home in Kansas City, Missouri.
