The little brick church was purchased from the Presbyterians in 1886. At this time repairs were made to the building and it continued to be used as a church until the spring of 1899 when it was torn down to make room for a larger church.
It was dedicated December 10, 1899 by Dr. F. D. Blakeslee, president of Iowa Wesleyan College, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
The building was heated by a furnace. On the wall was a beautiful regulator clock to “regulate” the length of the sermons. A 500 candle power gas light burner was installed for lighting in the building. The pews, like the building, were of the latest style- very comfortable and circular in form. The entire cost of the building was $2,000.
The last wedding held in the church was on August 9, 1952 when Phyllis McConahay and Dean McKinney were married.
The church closed around 1960.
This church was built in the year of our Lord 1899.

In April 1843 a plot of ground in the vicinity of Toolesboro was deeded to the new school Presbyterian denomination by Thomas J. Toole for the church purposes. On this lot they erected a little brick church 24’x30”, and continued to own the building until 1886 when under the pastorate of the Rev. A. B. Shipman it was purchased by the Methodists.
