KENNISTON, family burials in Oakland Cemetery -
need updated email
Kent E. Kenniston - My great-great-great grandfather, Issac
Kenniston, is buried in Oakland Cemetery, 18th and Carroll, Lee
County, Keokuk, Iowa. He is buried in Lot #53, Block #10. Isaac
Kenniston died on 29 Jan 1898 in Green, Iowa and was buried in
Oakland Cemetery per Death Records Book #1 and 2, 1867-1903 Lee
County on page 146, line 21 from the top.
Also buried with Isaac in the same Lot and Block # are the
following grandchildren.
Florence Agness Kenniston 11-22-1885,
Mamie Kenniston 3-11-1891,
Charles McDonald Kenniston 11-13-1893.
I wish to state that the graves have no headstone and are located
on a steep hillside covered with Day Lillies. As you stand at the
head of the grave sites facing downward of the hillside, and you
look to the left, you will see mausoleums and the cemetery vault.
Isaac's wife, Clementine, is buried next to her son, Rev George N.
Kenniston in Hettinger township, Adams County, North Dakota.
MANSHEIM - need updated email
Most American Mansheims are descendants of only ONE
Germanic-American immigrant couple: Thomas Mansheim and Anna
Kaiser Mansheim, of Gronia, Prussia (Germany), who arrived with
their 7 children, via the Mississippi River, at Fort Madison, Lee
Co., Iowa Territory, in March, 1843. Their children were:
Daughter: Mansheim Witte daughter's and husband's first names
unknown); Anna Maria "Mary Ann" Mansheim Droppel Wipke (2 mar.:
George Droppel and Henry ? Wipke); ranklin Mansheim left Iowa 1849
for the California Gold Rush - never heard from again - presumed
dead).
