One Hundred Years of Iowa Medicine 1850-1950

The physicians of Keokuk County met at Sigourney May 13, 1858, for the purpose of re-organizing the Keokuk County Medical Association. Dr. W. B. Smith was called to the Chair, and Dr. H. W. Jay appointed Secretary.

On motion, the code of ethics of the American Medical Association was adopted. - Iowa Med. Jour. Vol. 4, No. 4, April, May and June 1858.

There is no record of the original organization available.

Reorganized in 1868. Meetings quarterly. Membership  not recorded.
