Johannes Pauly and Jacob Sondag

I am a descendant of the Sondags, Paulys, Bergs, and Wolterings in the Clear Creek, Harper, or German Twp. area of Keokuk County.

1. Johannes Pauly married Anne Lauer in Perl, Germany in 1844 and had 9 children. I have found 2 in the area: Michael and Anna, in the 1870's and beyond. Michael married Elizabeth Woltering in 1873. They had 7 children. Anna married J. S. Woltering.

2. Jacob Sondag, born in Germany, married Barbara Berg in Baden, IA. in 1869. They had about 14 children, most of whom lived in the area throughout their lives.

The Pauly and Sondag families both lived in the Harper area in the late 1800s and early 1900s. My grandparents were Rosa Pauly and Matthias Sondag, who died in the 1970's and are buried in the Keota Catholic Cemetery in the town where they resided.
