Iron Bridge at Pitkin's.--The Board of Supervisors of Jefferson county, at its late session, awarded a contract for building a bridge across Cedar creek at Pitkin's ford, four and a half miles South of Fairfield, to our fellow citizen, Wm. LONG. The entire cost of the bridge will be $4,158 75. Mr. LONG has already commenced the erection of the bridge. It will be one of Z. King's wrought iron bridges, and will be built on iron piers. The span will be eighty-five feet, and the roadway sixteen feet. It is to be completed within 90 days, but Mr. LONG thinks he will have it up in 15 days less. These iron bridges are much used throughout the country, have given universal satisfaction, and the demand for them is constantly increasing. Mr. LONG is agent, and is prepared to fill all orders.
Among the first premiums at the State Fair, we find the following :
Best milch cow, Alex. FULTON, Fairfield.
Best cane mill, A. DEMARCE, Fairfield.
Best Stallion over four years old, J. P. ROBERDS, of Fairfield.
We also find mention as follows :
Mrs. J. R. SHAFFER and Mrs. J. M. SHAFFER, of Fairfield, have fine lots of jellies, preserves, and pickles, and have many red cards.
Alex. FULTON, of Fairfield, exhibits a large and very fine assortment of farm produce.
A. L. WILLIAMS, Fairfield, Iowa, 2 carriage horses; 2 farm horses.
J. P. ROBERDS, Fairfield, Iowa, Scotch Clyde breed, weighs 1,770, 16 hands 3 inches high.
M. CROY, Fairfield, Iowa, thoroughbred stallion, Eclipse breed.
J. C. RICKEY, Fairfield, Iowa, mare and colt.

Messrs JUNKIN & ROBINSON :
We claim a favor of you in the shape of another article in reply to those statements in your paper of the 16th inst. respecting that Lawyer Resolution. We hardly thought those statements worth noticing, but thinking the people of Jefferson Co. might think otherwise, we reply.
We would say, as before, that said Resolution was offered and mentioned by Dr. MALEY, seconded by one or more persons in the house, and put by Mr. J. KYLE, the Chairman of the meeting, and was adopted by a unanimous vote of the meeting. We know this to be a true statement of the action of the Penn township primary meeting, whatever Messrs. CRUMLEY, ELLIS, SPERRY and others may think to the contrary. We cannot say that we may be mistaken ; we know we are not.
Yours, &c. WM. K. HENDRICKS,
D. J. VANCE.
JOHN KYLE, Chairman of the meeting.
