Decoration Day.--Sunday was observed as Decoration Day by the soldiers of this place. The morning was wet and dreary, but the clouds dispersed about 11 o’clock and the sun shone beautiful and warm. A large concourse of people assembled on the North side of the Park, and after the soldiers had formed in line, marched to the grave yard, preceded by the brass band playing a funeral dirge. Arrived at the grave yard, a hollow square was formed and appropriate exercises were performed. Rev. A. AXLINE led in prayer, Revs. SHIPPEN, LIVERMORE, and AXLINE, and Hon. M. A. McCOID, made appropriate addresses. The procession then marched into the grave yard and strewed flowers on the graves of all the soldiers.-- We have been furnished with their names :

Grove Meeting.--The Free Methodist Church will (D. V.) hold a meeting in the grove on Mr. D. MENDENHALL’s farm, one mile west of Fairfield, commencing at 2½ P.M., on Thursday, the 3d day of June, and be continued over Sabbath.
Quarterly meeting will be held in connection. We extend a cordial invitation to all, and wish as many as possible to bring tents.

DIED.--Of pulmonary consumption, May 26th, at the House of her uncle, Mr. O. O. SHELDON, Miss Sarah YOUNT, in the 25th year of her age.
The deceased was a member of the Wooster Congregational Church, having united with that Church, and received the ordinance of baptism a few weeks before her death. She was remarkably calm and peaceful, in view of approaching death; was conscious to the very last, and passed away in the happy assurance of entering into the rest that remaineth to the people of God. MARRIAGES.
--May 20th, 1869, at the residence of the bride’s parents, by Rev. Thomas MERRILL, Mr. David HERON and Miss Susie A. REED, all of this county.
--May 19th, 1869, at the residence of the bride’s parents, by Rev. John HAYDEN, Mr. Luther M. COMBS and Miss Amanda GOODRICH, all of Fairfield.
--May 13th, 1869, by Rev. Joseph CHESTER, at the residence of the bride’s father, Mr. G. CASADY and Miss Melinda McMURRY, all of this county.
Excellent Marksmanship.--Mr. Eli KIRK, a target shooter of Jefferson county, fired fifteen consecutive shots at a target, distant sixty yards, putting every ball inside of a circle no larger than a silver ten cent piece. The gun used on this
occasion was made at the gunshop of A. R. BYRKIT, Fairfield, Iowa. -- State Register.
The above shooting occurred about six or seven years ago. Eli now wears glasses, but the gun is as good as ever, and BYRKIT is still in the business.
