Cedar Township Literary Association.--- On last Monday night Dr. John HARLAND, late of Batavia, delivered an address before the association on "Scrofula." The Dr. had delivered two lectures before at this place, consequently there was a good attendance.
He spoke of the cause, treatment, and cure of Scrofula, a disease so common to the human family. Denies that it is hereditary.--- Urged the importance, and showed the benefits of frequent ablutions with warm water, of abstaining from the use of the flesh of swine for food, &c. And, though no doubt many differ widely from him with regard to the treatment of the disease, yet all must confess that there is a good deal of sound logic in his theory. After the lecture, Mr. Ward LAMSON, of Fairfield, spoke briefly with regard to his personal experience with medical men.
Rev. W. C. SHIPPEN, of Fairfield, will address the association on next Monday night; Subject: "Education, the Necessity of the Age."         CEDAR

[Ed. note:  Scrofula is a form of tuberculosis affecting the lymph nodes, especially of the neck, that is most common in children and is usually spread by unpasteurized milk from infected cows. Also called struma.]
