Jefferson County
Genealogical Society

The Jefferson County Genealogical Society was founded in 1972 to create and foster an interest in genealogy, to aid members in compiling family genealogies and to assist individuals in finding their ancestors’ historical records. The society is open to anyone interested in genealogical, biographical, or historical research.

Meetings are held quarterly, at the Fairfield Library.

The society has helped preserve courthouse and cemetery records by transcribing and compiling the records into hardbound books available at several libraries in Iowa, including the holdings at the Fairfield Public Library.
