A part of the IAGenWeb and USGenWeb Projects County Genealogical Society |
|
The Jefferson County Genealogical Society was founded in 1972 to create and foster an interest in genealogy, to aid members in compiling family genealogies and to assist individuals in finding their ancestors’ historical records.
Meetings are no longer held, as the Society has disbanded.
The society has helped preserve courthouse and cemetery records by transcribing and compiling the records into hardbound books available at several libraries in Iowa, including the holdings at the Fairfield Public Library.
