HISTORY OF
JEFFERSON COUNTY, IOWA

CHAPTER XLV
THE OFFICIAL LIST

It seems desirable to present a list of those persons of Jefferson County who have been honored with official place and have been charged with the administration of its affairs. For convenience they are grouped under the years in which their service was rendered. This method, it must be observed, is not quite accurate for there was a long period when office was assumed both in the spring and in the fall. On account of this, it happens, on the one hand, that some officials filled their position two or three months before the year to which they are first assigned, and on the other hand, that some officials filled their positions two or three months after the year to which they are last assigned.
