A fourth son, Josiah, was shown with his wife Francis and sons Thomas, William, and Philip on a farm in Richland Township. I would happily exchange info on any of these people. Thank you.
LAWRENCE, LUNDY posted by Michael Steffen on Monday, March 11, 2002
I'm searching for more info. on my mysterious 2nd great- grandmother, Minnie Adell LAWRENCE, who was born on June 01, 1868. Her death record shows her birth location was in Jasper County and probably lived there for a very short time. I wanted to know the names of her natural parents. From my extensive research, I came to believe she was raised by her aunt, a sister to Minnie's natural mother whose surname was LUNDY. Minnie took the name of her aunt's married name. I'm wondering if there are any records in Jasper County that might put more light on Minnie like guardian records, adoption records, if there's one or anything like that. She has been living in Mahaska County (Richland Twp.) all of her life. I'm wondering if it's likely that Minnie was born in Lynn Grove Twp. which is not far from Mahaska County? Thank you for your help.

SELLMAN posted by Charlene Lougy on Monday, March 18, 2002
I am looking for verification that my grand father Franklin W. SELLMAN, born 4-21-1853, was indeed in the Civil War. He indicated so on his death certificate, and family rumors say he was too young to be a soldier, so he was a bugle boy. His older brother Charles O. SELLMAN enlisted 8-12-1862. He was in Co. E, 40th Iowa Volunteer Inf. Is there any way I could verify if Franklin was a bugle boy? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Charles O. was a resident of Jasper Co. He was a resident of Galesburgh.

My brother and another Civil War enthusiast are researching the 5th Iowa Cavalry and the 5th Iowa Infantry in hopes of publishing a book. They are especially interested in photographs, diaries, letters, personal histories, or family accounts from any members of either 5th Iowa unit. If you have any items or had an ancestor that belonged to either unit, I would appreciate hearing from you. Company B of the 5th Iowa Infantry was recruited primarily in Jasper County, Iowa.
