GORRELL posted by George Gorrell on Friday, August 21, 1998
I am trying to track down any information on Joseph Riddle GORRELL and his descendants (I know a fair amount about his ancesters). I know that Joseph Riddle Gorrell was born May 16, 1835, in Trumbull Co, Ohio. In the 1840's he moved to Jefferson Township, in Wells Co. Indiana. He went to Buffalo Medical school, and served as a surgeon with the 129th Indiana infantry. Sometime after the war, he moved to Jasper Co. Iowa (I have heard he is listed in the 1870 census, put I have not seen it). In 1893 he was elected to the Iowa state senate where he served till at least 1897. He died May 25, 1916. Most of my information is taken from his bio in "Progressive Men of Iowa". Any assistance with this line would be appreciated.
BRIDGES, LINDERS, PATTERSONS posted by Kathy Brown on Thursday, August 27, 1998
I am looking for any descendants of BRIDGES, PATTERSONS, LINDERS and Harris'. I am especially interested in knowning about Mary Patterson Linder and her son Gilliam Patterson. She married Israel Linder after his mother died. I am trying to determine if Mary was the mother of Israel, Elizabeth, and Greenberry Bridges as Greenberry was listed in the 1850 Census living with her. And in the Jasper County History Book a biography of Charles Bridges (Greenberry's son) it mentions that Greenberry came her with his mother. If anyone can help me out it would greatly appreciated.
BRIDGES, LINDER, PATTERSON posted by Kathy Brown on Monday, August 31, 1998
I am looking for information on Gillean or Gilleon (He actually went by G.F.)PATTERSON. His mother was Mary PATTERSON that married Israel LINDER on July 27, 1852. I am trying to find out if his mother was first married to a BRIDGES. (My great great grandfather was Perry BRIDGES and his sister was Elizabeth LINDER (Mrs. Rufus LINDER)and his brother was Greenberry BRIDGES) In the Jasper County History book, under Charles BRIDGES' biography it says that his father, Greenberry BRIDGES came to Jasper County Iowa with his mother. In the 1850 Census it shows Greenberry living with Mary PATTERSON and son Gillion PATTERSON, which leads me to believe she could be his mother. I find no marrage record in Kentucky that proves this theory. I looked up G.F. PATTERSON'S Obituary in the Newton Daily News (June 13, 1922) and it doesn't list brother's or sisters.
