My Rebecca CARSON and James S. JONES migrated to Colfax Township of Jasper County in Iowa after the Civil War. He was a civil war veteran from Wayne County, Ky. He was in Powestick Township at the time of his death. I would like information about their descendants. I believe their children were Claiborne, William, Mary Ann, Nancy C., Laura B., Elsida(Sadie), Richard, and Artie Jane.

Josephine Amelia RUSSELL born:9/15/1847 pl.unknown, died:9/18/1937 Durham, Kansas. Josephine gave birth to a son:Charles Thomas BRANTON born:July 24,1870 Kellogg,Iowa. Later moved to Kansas. Thomas and Josephine had 17 children. I'am interested in finding where Thomas and Josephine were born and finding who their parents were.

Looking for more information on Jehu LINDLEY, died in Newton, Jasper Co., NC, June 14, 1882. He married Ellen Hannah Kezia MILLER, who also died in Newton, August 11, 1856.

Harter, seabird and wife CLINE, sarah lived on farm Jasper Co. 1870. Daughter Clarissa married Dawson, William Henry Nov 2, 1875. Moved to Okla by 1890's and died there. Dawson's parents were David DAWSON and HEFLIF, Elizabeth. William H. DAWSON born Wisconsin or Indiana May 16, 1857 0r 1851 HARTER, Clarissa born Sept 21, 1857 Seeking info on HARTER, Seabird, CLINE, Sarah both born Indiana (?) also info on parents of DAWSON, David 1870 census lists Clarissa HARTER as Harrison 13yr old male, but D.O.B. accurate for Clarissa. Her marriage certificate on file Jasper Co.

MUNN family lived in Newton and surrounding areas. John MUNN, born 1837 in Ohio and his wife Mary Jane MONTGOMERY MUNN, born 1839 in Beaver County, PA had the following children: Alice 1863, John 1865, Nevada 1867, Ulysses Grant 1869, Geroge 1871, David 1874, Bertha 1876, Laura 1879, and Sherman 1883. Some of the children married and stayed in the area too. I am looking for any information on the MUNN line.

Mary MONTGOMERY was the wife of William MONTGOMERY and died in October 1891 in Jasper County. She is buried in Wittemburg cemetery. Looking for any information on her.

I am looking for information on my great, great, great grandmother, Mary Ann MONTGOMERY (nee HACKATHORN). She was born about 1811-1817 in Georgetown, Beaver County, PA. Husband: William MONTGOMERY b. 2/22/1813 in PA. Children: Catherine, Sara, John, Mary Jane, Alexander, William, Richard, Susan A., Thomas, Elizabeth, George & Henry Clay. She died in 1897 and is buried in Wittemburg Cemetery. Family records also list her as Mary STEFFY with the same husband and children. We need help to determine if it is Mary STEFFY, or Mary Ann HACKATHORN buried in Wittemburg Cemetery. Can anyone go to the cemetery and check for us?

Wish to correspond with descendants of Fred LUCAS born Ca 1845, Page Co., VA, died after 1930 probably in Jasper Co. IA. Fred was a Confederate soldier who was apparently interviewed by a Des Moines newspaper in 1930. His wife's name is unknow. Known children are Ida, Albert (children: Lucille, Hazel, & George Frederick), Nellie ZIMMERMAN (children: Mozelle & Fred), Charlie & Frankie (who both died in infancy).

Ira and Hilda JONES BRUCE lived in the town of Colfax from late 1920's to early 1940s. Ira owned and operated the Iowa Cafe there and also sold used cars. Children names were Mary, Alma, Muriel, Ruth, Mabel, Ralph, Lee, and Jean. Associated names with the children, remaining in Colfax, are GAGLE, KLINE, and BELL. Would like any info available on family and cafe! Ira and Hilda moved on to Des Moines. All children remained someway connected to the town of Colfax.

I am looking for information about my grandfather, Charles CRON, M.D., who practiced in Colfax around 1921. It is possible that he worked in the Victoria Sanitorium. If you could direct me to any resources that might document this I would be very grateful.

I am looking for Elmer VAN VOORST or any of his descendants. Elmer was the son of John Van Voorst (1890-1954) and Ruth (ROSS) Van Voorst who lived in the Reasnor-Newton area. John was retired from the Parsons company and his son Elmer was in the service at the time of his death. John came to the states from the Netherlands with his grandfather ( Jacob Hols) who was my great grandfather. Any help locating Elmer or his descendants would be most appreciated. 9/1/97
